Jake Hanna:
The Rhythm and Wit
of a Swinging Jazz Drummer

An upcoming book by Maria S. Judge
Meredith Music Publications: October 2012

Jake's 60-year career as a top jazz drummer is told through stories and tributes from 100+ friends and fellow musicians, including Marian McPartland, Charlie Watts, Scott Hamilton, Warren Vache and Howard Alden. These are woven around the history of the three phases of his career: he first drove the big bands of Harry James and Woody Herman; he next spent 10 years with "The Merv Griffin Show" studio orchestra; he then moved on to play with Supersax, the Hanna Fontana Band, Oscar Peterson, Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney and Roberta Gambarini. And always with the jokes!

If you have a story to share about Jake Hanna or would like to follow the book's progress, visit http://jakehannablog.blogspot.com
